The project also features a new film collaboration. and color photographs.&nbsp; ROM, Oslo, Norway Ellipse at ROM is an immersive spatial film experience that addresses consumer culture and explores artistic strategies in the semi-public urban space. It consists of six different films, shown both as film on screen and as film on canvas in sculptural installations. These short films, ranging from five to twenty minutes, unfold as diverse narratives, spanning multiple genres. Bodø Biennale, Bodø., Norway Brummer takes its starting point from the story of the Bullroarer from Tuv, discovered in 1991 near Saltstraumen and considered Norway’s oldest musical instrument. In a series of workshops with art and dance students from Bodin and Bodø Videregående, Stone Age rituals and instruments were explored and documented through sound. Commisioned by&nbsp;Bodø Biennale&nbsp; https://aleksanderjohan.com/Obstructions Thu, 06 Oct 2022 14:58:25 +0000 aleksanderjohan https://aleksanderjohan.com/Obstructions Obstructions 2022 Sculpture, video, sound, color photographs.&nbsp; Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, NL During Covid, while cycling the streets of Maastricht and the surrounding region, Andreassen’s work began to take a quieter, more observational turn. His new series of photographs, titled Obstructions (2022), indexes the city’s rigid, often overdetermined urban planning. One photo captures an assemblage of outdoor seating integrated into a small park. Closer inspection, however, reveals benches cutting into the trunks of trees. Unable to anticipate or accommodate a changing landscape, the park’s architecture has fated the trees to grow into their own deaths. Another photo reveals a patch of grass encircled by concrete boulders. A measure intended to protect a small plot of land has effectively trampled it. In this series Andreassen identifies public interventions intended for one purpose that end up precipitating very different, often contradictory, outcomes. In the solo exhibition Haptic Habitat, Aleksander Johan Andreassen shows new and older works that explore points of convergence between the body and urban space. The exhibition consists of the films Alle Tankers Slekt (All Thoughts Are Kin), Strim, and Centarium, along with a new installation.&nbsp;In addition, Andreassen presents a number of performances and interventions developed with local creatives. Made for specific locations in and around Molde, these are documented on video and shown&nbsp;in the Art Centre’s video room. The participants are the actors Sara Fellman and Kjersti Botn Sandal, the skater Kristina Westad, the visual artists Anne Brit Krag and Sivert Bjørnerem, and the dancer Alma Bø. The performance All That Glitters was performed at selected public spaces in central Molde during the week Molde Pride should have been held. Mo i Rana, Norway. This umbrella project examines the Norwegian shopping center as a cultural, social, and political phenomena. Norway today has the most square meters of shopping center per inhabitant in Europe. Namely 926 square meters per 1000 inhabitant, equaling almost 1 square meter of shopping center per person. Centarium is performed and filmed mainly during normal opening hours, with the centers’, at times, identical spaces as the stage and scenography. Oslo, Norway. The performance is a collaboration between dancer Chollada Phinitduang, writer Cathrine Knudsen and visual artist Aleksander J. Andreassen. It was commissioned by, and performed during AD-VENT in December 2019 in Oslo. The artist's names were not disclosed until the event started, emulating the surprise element of an advent calendar. The working process consisted of several meetings and rehearsals where Andreassen suggested new constellations of excerpts from Knudsens writing. Bodø, Norway. Varied materials. In this interdisciplinary and site-specific project artist Aleksander Johan Andreassen’s and choreographer Maria Landmark’s work is informed by the recent years’ dramatic urban development of the town of Bodø in Northern Norway. During a month long artistic intervention in central Bodø, and by setting up a base in a vacant shopping space, the artists maintained a direct dialogue with the city and its inhabitants. Collaborating with dancers Oda Bjørholm and Alma Bø, as well as scenographer Mari Lotherington, the group arranged conversations and interviews with the town’s inhabitants, and also unannounced and announced performances in central spaces and streets of Bodø. The work was commissioned by the interdisciplinary art festival Bodø Biennale 2018. Exhibition at Bodø Kunstforening in Bodø, Norway. Utilizing film, photography and installation this project presents a fictional portrait of the artist’s father Rune.
